Kenneth Joel, M.D.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, Dr. Joel proceeded to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He remained in Augusta to complete an internship at Eugene Talmadge Memorial Hospital before transitioning to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Joel completed an Anesthesiology residency immediately followed by a fellowship with concentrations in chronic pain management and OB anesthesia.
Board Certified in both Pain Management and Anesthesiology, Dr. Joel has served patients in various capacities. He is a former Chairman for the North Fulton Hospital’s Department of Anesthesia and previously served as the Medical Director for the Pain Control Center.
An active physician in the medical community, Dr. Joel is a member of numerous professional associations, including the American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Pain Society and the International Association of the Study of Pain. He has also presented on a range of topics related to pain management including Diagnosing and Treating Chronic Pain, New Modalities in the Treatment of Pain, Pharmacology and Physiology of Therapeutic Agents in Chronic Pain Management, and Addiction versus Dependence.
